Why You’ll Love This
- Quick, easy, and simple steps
- A cozy and satisfying meal
- Easily available ingredients
- Satisfying sizzle of aromatics
- Can be adjusted to your liking
- Perfect for busy days
Cooking the Ramen Noodles
Simply cook the ramen according to the instructions on the packet or to your liking. I like my noodles chewy! 🙂
Once the noodles are cooked, drain the water and place them in a bowl.
You can opt to use other varieties of noodles of your choice instead of using ramen.
Add the Aromatics
You will need a mix of aromatics such as minced garlic, green onions, white sesame seeds, red chili powder, black pepper powder, and salt.
Feel free to customize it to your liking!
Infuse with Sizzling Oil
The best part of the recipe, cooking the aromatics by pouring down the sizzling hot oil over them.
Heat the neutral oil over high heat until it’s very hot. You can test the temperature by adding a piece of chopped green onion. If it sizzles, it’s good to go!
Add the Sauces
I have only used two sauces: white vinegar (rice vinegar or regular vinegar) and dark soy sauce. Feel free to add any other sauces you like. Experiment with hot sauce, black pepper sauce, etc.
Add the Ramen Noodles
Combine the cooked and drained noodles with the prepared sauce, make sure everything is mixed well and evenly coated.
Chili Garlic Oil Ramen is Ready!
Sprinkle the toppings of your choice and slurp away! 🙂
Storage & Reheating
You can store the leftover ramen in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Make sure the ramen is completely cooled down before storing it.
For reheating the ramen, microwave it for 2-3 minutes or reheat it on the stovetop in a pan on medium heat.
Top it off with freshly chopped green onions, sesame seeds, or chili oil to the reheated ramen to add some crunch and freshness.

- To add an extra punch of spicy, drizzle over some sriracha sauce or any other hot chili sauce.
- For a satisfying aromatic sizzle, make sure the oil is smoking hot. Add the oil to the spice mix and not to the wet noodles. It can create a splashback.
- Add a protein boost, you can add tofu cubes, sliced mushrooms, and edamame.
- Customize the ingredients, feel free to substitute the ingredients to your liking.
- Top off with a crunchy texture, with bean sprouts, crushed peanuts, sesame seeds, or bok choy. If not making a vegan version, add a fried egg.
- Serve with side dishes, such as kimchi, pickled veggies, soy-marinate sliced shiitake mushrooms, tofu, or egg.
