Heat oil in a pan. Add panch phoran seeds and bay leaf.

Once the seeds splutter, add finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until the raw aroma disappears.

Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and the cooked dal to the pan. Adjust the consistency with water if necessary.

Add salt, garam masala, and sugar. Mix well.

Simmer for a few minutes and garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves.
