In a heat-proof bowl, combine chopped onions or shallots, chopped coriander leaves, minced garlic, and red chili flakes.

Heat the oil in the pot over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes or until it becomes hot and you notice small bubbles forming.

Add dark soy sauce, black pepper sauce or chili sauce, salt, sugar, and lime juice. Mix well.
